Some great highlights of my day so far: my Accounting class was cancelled this afternoon! That never happens, so as you can imagine I was quite happy finding this out. I got my Humanities Exam back and scored a solid 90%! I went shopping with my friend Rachel to buy longer clothes for Malawi and found numerous cute, usuable items such as dresses, skirts, etc. we plan to wear in Malawi and after our trip as well. I'm also the new Public Relations Manager for the Sports Management Club at my school, as well as going into my second year as Treasurer of Bravo!, my school's theater club.

39 Days

Only 39 days until I will be on Malawi soil (as well as England and Kenya soil). It's so close I'm getting so nervous and excited. So I started singing a song called Nervous But Excited (props for those who know where that quote is from). I have my prescription for malaria (prevention, trust me no one wants malaria) and I'm getting my typhoid and yellow fever shots on Thursday. I think the thing I'm most afraid of is well, my fears. I'm terrified of two things the most: snakes and heights.

The Gift of All: A Community of Givers

I've been in Grand Rapids for about two years, and I'm starting to remember all of the famous names that are usually associated with this area: Meijer, DeVos, Hauenstein, Wege, Cook, etc. I'm working on a paper for my Humanities class on how the philanthropy of Grand Rapids relates to the philanthropy during the Renaissance in Florence, Italy.

I'm currently working on a paper comparing the philanthropy of Grand Rapids to the philanthropy during the Renaissance in Florence, Italy. I haven't found much information yet on Florence, but I've found numerous sites for information about Grand Rapids (one of which is a documentary I will finish watching soon and post about).

Even though her birthday isn't Monday, we decided to have a surprise birthday party for my friend Michelle (which made it even more of a surprise since she had no idea) on Friday night.

A Very Potter Workout

I've been trying to get in better shape lately, not necessarily dieting but staying active. The only problem is that I can't run because it bothers my knees and ankles too much (thank you high school sports) and usually I don't have the motivation to work out anyway. I was on Pinterest the other day and I stumbled onto this beauty:

It's warmer in Michigan than Florida????

It's only the second day of Spring, but it feels like the middle of summer. Not sure why exactly we have this heat wave, but it's quite nice compared to getting 2 feet of snow a few weeks ago. It just proves how bipolar Michigan's weather can be.

Aquinas College Unveiling

Last night the Aquinas Theater Department revealed their 2012-2013 Theater Season. Even though I'm not a theater major I'm still active in the theater community as much as I can.

Sunday Studying

So much homework this weekend! I had to write an annotated bibliography, prepare a master budget project, and read an article. But luckily, with nice weather, the start of Intramural Soccer, great friends, and the fact that it was St. Patrick's Day on Saturday, I wasn't going to let some dull homework ruin my weekend!

Summertime in Northern Michigan (almost)

I've been dying to post this scarf for a while, unfortunately due to the lack of time and other exciting things to post about, I've delayed it too long. But since it's getting close to Spring and all things Spring Cleaning, I figured this would be an excellent way to use up old t-shirts!

Blueberry French Toast Sandwich

I'm back at college! Only 8 more weeks left until I'm officially half-way through my college career. Scary right? I'm not that old but it sure feels like it, especially since I'm signing my first lease for my first house this week for next year. I'm beyond excited to move off campus with some great friends.

Another birthday today for my amazing, fantastic, entertaining friend Rachel Lanczak! I met her in my Spanish class freshman year, but it turns out our schools played against each other in basketball a few years before. Small world right?
